Put it in your ear: THE EXTENDED PLAY

This week the article has expanded, and in turn I have expanded the scope of my writing. Rather then sit around and rant for another half page I have decided to do some investigative journalism (i.e. let someone else rant for me). What I have done is really quite simple, I have asked for comments about daily life from students at other schools and they have returned to me strange statements that appear to have nothing to do with anything at all.
Will Grofic, "On Cartoons, I think"- "You used to wake up in the morning, didn't you? We all used to wake up before noon, sometime ago, and we would watch the cartoons, X-Men and Spiderman come to mind. Those were action packed testaments to our need for drama. But we had Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Ren and Stimpy, as well. That was pure comedy. Here, the cartoons took on the old school feel that our generation needed, and they twisted it a little. Tiny Toons was different, but it was always coming back to the original. These cartoons always came back. They were a boomerang of consistency. I won't call it postmodern, I won't, but I should. What they do on Adult Swim is not twist the old, but destruct the old to make a new. Oh the hell with it. It's postmodern. And Harvey Birdman represents this the most. When Shaggy and the Scooby Doo gang get caught in "possession" and a custody battle starts in the Johnny Quest camp we start to see Fred Flintstone as Tony Soprano. For someone that was raised on Merry Melodies and Warner Bros cartoons, this is a haven, a resting place before the weekend. I love the other cartoons, don't get me wrong. But, when Harvey Birdman gets going, I feel like I just woke up."
Side Note: I would like to interrupt my regularly scheduled babble to say, Bernie Williams just hit a Grand Slam. The Yankees are on Fire. God, I hate the Red Sox.
Well boys and girls, it has been a journey. For one, this is the longest article I have ever written for my good pals at The Trident. They don't give me stories or leads, but then again that's how they earned their reputation of being irresponsible and childish, just they way I like it. Clearly someone screwed up or died to require that I fill this much space, but a death and other people's failure are my favorite and the easiest way to earn promotion. Like they say, "to climb the ladder of success, sometimes you have to step on other peoples hands".
