What happens in Cabo stays in Cabo.

This line, from MTV's reality drama Laguna Beach, describes the sentiments of many college students who want to have a guilt-free week of fun during spring break.

True, most W&L students haven't even packed for Washington break yet, but that doesn't mean that spring break isn't on their minds. Jane Purvis, a travel consultant at Martin Travel in Lexington, said that approximately 140 W&L students have come to the agency to inquire about spring break options.

"The Bahamas is where we have everyone going," Purvis said. "Most students wanted [to pay] around $1,000 or under," she said. "We ended up with the Bahamas because it was the least expensive."

Purvis said that there is also a group of students going to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She said that some students have looked into Cancun, but many opted not to go because they had been there before.

For those who have not made plans for the week of April 11-15, there's still time. Junior Amaya Moure said that she's not sure what she's going to do.

"There's still Feb break to come," Moure said. "I'm definitely getting out of Lexington [for spring break], though," she said.

With so many W&L students traveling together this spring break, one thing seems certain. What happens during spring break won't stay on spring break. Here's a guide of where W&L students will be spending Spring Break 2005.

Nassau

Many seniors have made plans to go to Nassau for their final spring break of college. This island in the Bahamas boasts ancient forts, beautiful architecture, and an array of international crafts and other goods.

But senior Kiersten Salander, who plans to travel to Breezes resort in Nassau, predicts that the W&L group won't make it much farther than the beach during the day, and bars at night.

"I think there's going to be a lot of intra-class making out," Salander said.

Salander said that "drinking all day and bathing suits" will create an atmosphere that encourages people who have known each other for four years to hook up.

Senior Celia Landgren is also going to Breezes for spring break, and said that she looks forward to spending time with "about 150 of my closest friends."

"We're at the point in our senior year when it's not about sororities or fraternities anymore, but it's about our friends," Landgren said. "Our class is abnormally close," she said.
