How W&L students are perceived by Lex community

Rich, white, and Southern" are three of the most popular descriptions for the W&L student body. Though these stereotypes may not hold true for the entire student population, they are common generalizations for outsiders looking in on the W&L community. But is this how the greater W&L, Lexington, and Rockbridge County communities actually view the students?
"We all have stereotypes we carry around with us," Professor of Economics Linda Hooks said.

Hundreds of W&L students list very personal information on their online Facebook profiles, including birthdays, AOL screen names, phone numbers and addresses. Many other student profiles reference drinking, drugs and humor that many view as inappropriate and offensive.
